English Women's Rapidplay - Success

I am pleased to announce that the 1st English Women's Rapidplay was played today and was a great success. It was an extremely strong event and we had our strongest women out playing today so I am very proud that we have made this event happen.

Zivile Sarakauskiene (LITHUANIA) 4/6
Alice Tissot (FRANCE) 4/6
Sue Maroroa (4NCL NACCPO) 4/6
Kanwal Bhatia (4NCL Barbican) 4/6
All receiving £20
Junior Prize (and 3=)
Anna Wang (Oxford High School) 4/6 £50
2nd place:
Meri Grigoryan (4NCL Guildford) 5/6 £120
1st place and title:
Jovanka Houska (4NCL Wood Green HK) 5.5/6 £200 and 2 trophies.
A Best Sport award was also awarded to Zoe Varney (Cumnor) who was the youngest competitor and lowest graded but did amazingly in the competition and showed wonderful sportsmanship throughout.
I would also like to thank Jovanka Houska who kindly donated half her prize money back to Women's Chess so that we can continue to run the event in the future.
