I don't even get what that means but I think you mean the background is rather busy! I have attempted to make it a bit better! I was going for pretty... but I guess that didn't work :(

I think Sean was worried that this thread would go the way of the others. Having just read the report, let me congratulate you on a wonderful event. The pictures are nice and give a real flavour of the chess and the organisation of the event. Here's hoping that next year's competition is even better!

@Sabrina - Chris is right. It's the instructions in a pack of fireworks. I was just waiting for this thread to explode like all your others.

Note to self : witty comments aren't nearly as funny when you have to explain them :-(

@Sean I got it :D But you put the idea of making a spoof complaint in my head, which I know would cause trouble. I've now thought of dozens and am having to control myself, so curse you!

Ha I think most ppl got it - I am just slightly stupid and a little paranoid now that people are being critical! :( I can't imagine why that is!!!

Oh Dear Sabrina, how could you...

First of all there is a picture of St. Paul's Girls' School.
Did the person who took this picture hold a current and
up to date ECF 'Chess Event Picture Takers' License?

The second picture is a balcony shot.
The camera could have slipped out the hand and hit one of the girls on the head.

Did the person taking the picture have the camera strapped
around their neck with an officially sanctioned ECF strap.

Some of the girls have bottles of drinking water next to the chess set.
The labels can clearly be seen. This is blatant advertsing.
Water bottle labels must be removed as per ECF rule 987.

Shoe laces:
I cannot be sure but it looks like one of the girls has a shoe lace undone.
ECF directive No.116b regarding shoe laces has been totally ignored.

And finally...and don't think this has not gone unoticed.
There are no pictures of any male players.
I know this was an all girls event but...welll but...
(I know there is a rule about this somewhere. If not there soon will be.)

;)

How do you know the ECF hasn't signed a multi-penny sponsorship deal with that company to advertise by providing refreshments at this Championship?

On the positive side, the ECF supported these tournaments with such hard cash as it could afford, and is reviving the Women's Grand Prix this season. With Sabrina and Jovanka managing women's chess with such energy I think there is no doubt that these events will take place on a regular basis.

When you say pretty are you not emphasising the feminine traits to the detriment of the masculine sensibilities? You should have made it attractive to the boys as well

Nick - men like things pretty too! Isn't that why women make so much effort for them :P
