Re: Manchester in the NCCU
Lancs often play at Bury, but the last match v G Man was at Heywood, the previous one at Oldham; it was strange that the only time we played in G Man was when "away" to Lancs in the National Stages; anyway, not a worry this season
Choice of venues v Northumberland and v Cleveland will be interesting; Cumbria I expect would be at Lancaster where we have played them in friendlies, and presumably actually at home v Merseyside

Well if Yorkshire/Northumberland was Darlington, maybe GM vs Northumberland is Harrogate Seems to roughly equalise drive time.
(or Darlington again, or I guess Northallerton.).
Cleveland seems to end up in the Leeds/Bradford area which might feel a bit odd!

The Open v Northumberland and u2050 v Cleveland are currently scheduled for the same day, so maybe the same venue for both if that goes ahead

Re: Manchester in the NCCU
Another loss today, but at a glance only half the team have played for the u1850 (or u160 as was) team before, and I know we had some stronger players choosing to sit it out, so the main thing is to give more players the chance to experience county chess in line with our ConstitutionDavid Sedgwick wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 12:09 amI said I wouldn't believe it until I saw that Manchester had actually played an NCCU County Match. Your post is magnanimous, as is appropriate today. But make sure that Yorkshire don't beat you for too long.
We also don't have anyone currently to captain any teams in the National stages

Really nice to host Greater Manchester at our Holmfirth Home Ground. The match was played in good spirit and will be the first of many more.

Looks like the answer to GM vs Northumberland is York. I hope the remaining rooms in the RI are nice enough.
Also York vs Sheffield in York tomorrow. Set to be an awful lot of strong chess players in the city center

Yes, G Man v Northumberland tomorrow at both open and u2050, which I think is stretching our resources as I gather 1 of our players pulled out today
I think G Man v Cleveland u2050 is headed for York too

Looks like it was a tough match Northumberland edging it:

Great to see Greater Manchester fielding a good open team.
I think it was 1 GM, 4 IM's and a very healthy number of FM's in action over the two strong matches in York today.
(+ the U2050 match and York C vs Sheffield B of course .).
