It would certainly be good if Alan Walton had some kind of challenge match prior to seeking the nomination for the vacant OPEN team place in the National stages in December. Shame if true..
Both counties are capable of putting out good teams.
Maybe celebration matches like the one v Liverpool recently will be the norm for our top players.
Certainly I see merit in the OPEN team playing at least one competitive match prior to the National stages.
