And the Conservatives won in my area. Fortunately had a good candidate replace another good one.

Re: Boris Johnson
So Boris Johnson is quitting being an MP.
Is this the end of Boris Johnson's political career?

Re: Boris Johnson
I did find his resignation statement refreshing. Normally, there are obsequious and hypocritical comments about the honour of serving etc., but he left fighting!

Re: Boris Johnson
I am writing him off, nonetheless.
Actually think his party might be willing to "do a Corbyn" on him if it came to that.

Well at least we are had him as Prime Minister, bad though he was, rather than the alternative who made the Muppets look rational.

I expect that what happened to an Italian Prime Minister yesterday is the only way you will be certain of that.Simon Rogers wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 10:24 amSo Boris Johnson is quitting being an MP.

To be pedantic, former Italian Prime Minister. (Or do you retain the title after leaving office?)Richard Thursby wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 8:56 pmI expect that what happened to an Italian Prime Minister yesterday is the only way you will be certain of that.Simon Rogers wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 10:24 amSo Boris Johnson is quitting being an MP.

The Wikipedia article on him is one of the longer ones I have seen:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silvio_Berlusconi
Rabbit hole (really, it is, don't spend too long looking at the examples there, it is madness-inducing!):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:LongPages
For the record, as at the time of writing, the Silvio Berlusconi article is the 685th longest on Wikipedia:
"(hist) Silvio Berlusconi [329,756 bytes]"

Re: Boris Johnson
It did strike me ( not for the first time ) that the manner in which Berlusconi was replaced by Monti was remarkably similar to the replacement of Truss by Sunak.

Re: Boris Johnson
Definitely the end of his MP career. Will make money on writing on his time as Prime Minister. The worse Prime Minister in my time of 69 years

Re: Boris Johnson
My brief online search suggests it is not even correct to use the title in what I presume is the most widely used case (POTUS).Christopher Kreuzer wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 9:28 pmTo be pedantic, former Italian Prime Minister. (Or do you retain the title after leaving office?)
