Re: Boris Johnson
Err, I think I'll step off this particular crazy train. I'm grateful it's obvious Rishi and Truss are about as popular with the public at large as the clap. I don't think even Murdoch's empire can turn that particular boat around.

The media in this country is overall right wing leaning, this is indisputable on any remotely objective assessment.

Re: Boris Johnson
yes attacking the most electable tory leader since Thatcher and replacing them with a libertarian or an im alright rich ee jack is very much in the tories interests, the press are really being pro-tory there.

Re: Boris Johnson
what i hope is they allow labour in power to increase public sector wages tremendously. Start off relatively small with inflation a problem, then go at the problem with tooth for leather. If the tories do it they dilute the message of entrepreneurship, alright if people understand it socialism they may not associate it in the long term with the tories, but diluting a message shouldnt be tried in my opinion.

The media in this country is accused by left-wingers of leaning right and by right-wingers of leaning left, which I think is the definition of being in the centre.Matt Mackenzie wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 3:28 pmThe media in this country is overall right wing leaning, this is indisputable on any remotely objective assessment.

Re: Boris Johnson
the media has an agenda to discredit moderate labour socialists and one nation Tories in order that we put all our basket cases in with the fat cat neo-liberals so we end in a dead end politically probably quite literally.

Can you have 50 years of neoliberalism without it becoming just liberalism?AlanLlewellyn wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 7:20 pmthe media has an agenda to discredit moderate labour socialists and one nation Tories in order that we put all our basket cases in with the fat cat neo-liberals so we end in a dead end politically probably quite literally.

There is also the Andrew Neil interview of Corbyn on the BBC in November 2019 which you can Google.Angus French wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 11:38 pmOn Corbyn's alleged antisemitism and antisemitism in the Labour Party, I'd recommend watching this. However I believe that Corbyn did not have the skills necessary to lead a political party, let alone a government - it's all very well being hopeful and optimistic but you also have to bang heads together where necessary. Brexit is a case in point - while it would be very unfair to blame him for the whole as the other wing of the Labour Party were equally tone deaf - Corbyn provided no leadership or vision.
And while again it would be unfair to pin all the blame on Corbyn personally, as a Labour party member, I hold him complicit in the disgusting antisemitic racism that still infects the movement. More to the point I believed at one time that he was not antisemitic himself but his behaviour since relinquishing the leadership makes me increasingly unsure.

Or you can read the reviews of it - Peter Oborne's is good.Simon Rogers wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 1:07 amThere is also the Andrew Neil interview of Corbyn on the BBC in November 2019 which you can Google.Angus French wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 11:38 pmOn Corbyn's alleged antisemitism and antisemitism in the Labour Party, I'd recommend watching this. Re: Boris Johnson
the point of pointing out to the left that they are self destructive is to empower them in a fit of self awareness so they recognise theyre own weakness is themselves- i am not trying to weaken the left and they should learn to first blame themselves for theyre troubles not automatically blame others. I dont profess to know if theyre is a simple solution to theyre problems i just hope there is.

To lead a group of leftists, you have to be the leftest person in the group, because left = moral and correct and good. To lead a group of conservatives, you have to be the most competent leader among the people who are roughly in the middle of the group.
This, rather than any "media bias" asserted by demonstrably biased people, is why the left always seem to be starting the game on -0.50.

i take it you come from the shires i am the one of the few tory voters in my council ward and many places are still very labour, socialism hasnt been explained to people as rewarding hard work or equal opportunity or respect for all, thats basically what it means.Chris Goodall wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 1:01 amTo lead a group of leftists, you have to be the leftest person in the group, because left = moral and correct and good. That's an odd conclusion to jump to. Explain.
