This video on the growth of the precariat (precariat + proletariat) in England seems well worth watching. More or less the same situation exists in France, Italy, Holland, Japan, and the USA.

Have I missed something what the hell has this to do with Chess? Is this not a chess Forum anymore?

It's a chess forum with a "Not Chess!" subforum (or board). If you want a new topic started on chess, I can think up one right now if you want... Let me flip open the book I'm reading and pick a topic (it might not be about English chess, I'll admit).
