Seems he just died, poor fellow. He wasn't even old. I just borrowed the New Statesman Season 1 DVD a couple of days back. And I have his Bottom series as well, with Adrian Edmondson. It's the end of an era. In one of the Bottom episodes, he tries to learn chess.

I hope there was no foul play involved in his death- it seems very sudden and suspect to me.
Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.
