The first example is normally a gambling term meaning to use a previous winnings on a future wager. The second example means to transform an advantage into a win. The third example means to make the advantage greater so you win.
Maybe someone else can give you a better answer.

I'd suggest a mixed metaphor or idiom as in "fly a kite". In other words suggest a plausible set of moves as a basis for discussion.

It looks like a typing mistake to me - "fly" should be "try". If fly is deliberately used I've no idea what it means.
