He says. Black Bishop is a good Bishop and White's is a bad one. and continues: 'This bit of name calling lead us to believe that Black's Bishop is superior.'
What name calling? Does he only mean labling?

He means calling the Black Bishop "good " and the White Bishop "bad".

To turn out fine (~ good but precise), with some implication that it wasn't really expected to do so.

It can do, but not in this instance. It just refers to saying " bad Bishop "and " good Bishop ".

~ is used an approximate sign. I must I think have missed a not from the rest of it.

So roughly good but not quite precisely the same meaning.

Yes. After capturing on b6, the Bishop will be able to capture on a5.
