Must see? Probably nothing. The modern stained glass in the rebuilt cathedral is quite pretty. Wikipedia has details.

In all honesty that whole area of the country isn't really a tourist destination. Some things but all the really scenic countryside is further North or West and a lot of the cities only got big during the industrial revolution so there isn't quite the same sort of history there is in some places. Depends what you're after of course - some theme parks and the like.

Birmingham isn't far away and is the 2nd biggest city in the United Kingdom so I'd presume there must be some things worth seeing there.

Lots of historic/interesting places - just not many in Coventry :)

Its a bit sad actually as Coventry been a major centre for a very long time, so should have quite a bit of history. Unfortunately it has also been a hugely important industrial centre and suffered horrible damage in the second world war :( There isn't much left and the replacement stuff except the Cathedral just isn't that good.

These are all very local - many with buses to/from the Unviersity - and much more worthwhile to visit:
Leamington Spa: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Leamington_Spa
Kenilworth Castle: http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visi ... th-castle/
Warwick Castle: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warwick_Castle;

If you want further afield there's always Stratford on Avon - a massive tourist draw on account of being Shakespeare's birth place. Rather tourisity as a result of course.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stratford-upon-Avon - birthplace of Shakespeare etc. ~10 miles from Warwick so you'd have to work transport out. Seems to be ~1:15 by bus from Coventry.

If you want shopping and stuff then Birmingham.
