Be warned it isn't cheap ... I've only just realised that the Queens' tennis tournament is next week, which means Wimbledon is just around the corner ... prices and vailability crazy

Indeed, the words "London" and "Cheap" don't fit together! We are talking about a place where a ham and cheese sandwitch costs £5.00 as I found out last time I was in Victoria station

I guess it depends when you want to be in England and where - you could always play some chess at the British Championships http://www.britishchesschampionships.co.uk/2015/ I think the accommodation there is from £27.50 per night.

Thank you. I emailed them. It should be great to play in the BCC.

However, there is a place in London called Cheapside -Jon Mahony wrote:Indeed, the words "London" and "Cheap" don't fit together! We are talking about a place where a ham and cheese sandwitch costs £5.00 as I found out last time I was in Victoria station

Don't be fooled by the name though - Jon Mahony is right to say things are not cheap in London.
Northburgh Street is not far from Cheapside so you should visit the area if you have time -

Do the same conditions of accommodation hold for London Chess classic?David Shepherd wrote:I guess it depends when you want to be in England and where - you could always play some chess at the British Championships http://www.britishchesschampionships.co.uk/2015/ I think the accommodation there is from £27.50 per night.

The British Chess Championships are being held at the University of Warwick. That's on the outskirts of Coventry around a hundred miles (over 150 km) from London. It's a special deal by the University outside of student terms to use what might otherwise be unused facilities. For the London Chess Classic in December, you would be looking at either London prices or if outside London, a hefty transport bill as well.soheil_hooshdaran wrote:Do the same conditions of accommodation hold for London Chess classic?

You mean There is a place at the university just because it is summer and we cannot find a similar accommodation in other parts of the year? Remember that universities are normally closed from 15 Dec too,due to holidays.Roger de Coverly wrote:The British Chess Championships are being held at the University of Warwick. There are places at the University because the British Championships are being played there and it's all part of the deal with the ECF to host the Championships.soheil_hooshdaran wrote: You mean There is a place at the university just because it is summer and we cannot find a similar accommodation in other parts of the year? A commercial website that offers university based accommodation is this one
http://www.universityrooms.com/
London Classic dates (4th to 14th December) overlap with the end of the university terms. There's some availability at the end of the period, cheapest shown is £ 50 per night.
