To think that my only aim for the week was to have eleven players available taking into account the five postponements :)

Week 31 Report

The most beautiful thing I experienced in Barcelona was the response after winning the Liga in 1974. I was used to being congratulated, but here the people said ‘Thank you’. That was strange, but I’ll never forget it. - Johan Cruyff. Thanks Johan.

1 ARM and Hammers Mark Leonard 68 1,819
2 Bacuna-Mata-Ta Gareth Yeo 73 1,795
3 Rash Rangers Robert Ashworth 79 1,769
4 Barca Loner James Friar 84 1,757
5 Peregrinewellies Barry Redburn 79 1,739

No change in the top five in a big-scoring week where all the favourite players did well. Both Alan Tate (91 points) and John Garnett (90 points) reached the 90 point mark ; it goes without saying that Harry Grieve was the low scorer of the week on 23 whilst bottom club manager Sam Herring reaches the 1,000 point mark and is in position 3,415,912.

And a team name for you Man City fans - sterling silva - can they make the top four??

Week 32 Report

"I can't help but laugh at how perfect I am." Zlatan Ibrahimovic Unless you're taking a penalty!

1 ARM and Hammers Mark Leonard 62 1,881
2 Bacuna-Mata-Ta Gareth Yeo 78 1,873
3 Rash Rangers Robert Ashworth 74 1,843
4 Barca Loner James Friar 52 1,809
5 Peregrinewellies Barry Redburn 51 1,790

Well absolutely no change at the top - other than a swift shuffle! Best score of the week was Nathan Cragg with 85 points; Sam Herring's 11 points cemented his team to Position 67 in the League - someone tell Sam that Luke Shaw is injured.

With 6 weeks to go time to have a look at the top teams in Fantasy Football; it's Lawro's Lions on 2009 points with second place Pooey Van Gaal on 2006. These are the only two teams to have broken the 2000 point barrier to date.

Week 33 Report

Being named among the best at something is special and beautiful. But if there are no titles, nothing is won. Lionel Messi

Well - no Barcelona - but who will win the Premier Chess title - read on!

1 ARM and Hammers Mark Leonard 77 1,958
2 Bacuna-Mata-Ta Gareth Yeo 79 1,952
3 Rash Rangers Robert Ashworth 56 1,899
4 Barca Loner James Friar 81 1,890
5 Peregrinewellies Barry Redburn 86 1,876

The top two are pulling away - who will win Mark or Gareth? The remainder must try and keep hold of their places with the top five teams unchanged now for a sixth successive week. It was a further week of high scores although no-one could hit the 100+ mark (expected in Week 34) there were three teams that scored 90 points or more. Top scorer was Paul Spiller now back in sixth place. The lowest score was from Justin Hadi with 22 points; having three Villa players, including Brad Guzan, in your team is not recommended. Whilst top place isn't decided Sam Herring must be assured of 67th and last place - even the rapidly falling Harry Grieve (66th place) isn't likely to bridge the gap.

Nothing like dismissing the opposition - two team names Substandard Liege or Pathetico Madrid though Lionel might disagree with the latter.

Week 34 Report

'I'm not saying he's going to field a weaker team; it just won't be as strong.' Mark Lawrenson Should have taken his advice last week - in come three Liverpool players who didn't play till the Mersey derby!

1 ARM and Hammers Mark Leonard 156 2,110
2 UKnowNuthnJohnStones Gareth Yeo 158 2,106
3 Dann Tchoyi Juanmi Paul Spiller 157 2,018
4 Rash Rangers Robert Ashworth 110 2,009
5 Check This Richard Pert 158 1,987

Well there you have it - 24 players scored 100+ last week aided by several teams playing two matches and the use of "Bench Boost" & "Triple Captain" wild cards. As a result we lose both James Friar and Barry Redburn, regain Paul Spiller and welcome Richard Pert to the top five. where four of the top scoring teams feature. Gareth Yeo has changed his team name yet again and his head-to-head with Mark Leonard continues but Gareth still has both his Triple Captain and All-out-Attack cards to play! At the foot of the table Sam Herring's score will soon be half that of the two leaders.

The overall leader is now Dimitris Gavles with 2,229 points - the top 81 teams all scored 100+ points demoting the leader of a fortnight ago Lawro's Lions to 82nd place. Best score of the week was 226 points that moved Savage Strikers up a massive 800,000 places. Team captain was Robbie Savage (honest)!

4 Dann Tchoyi Juanmi Paul Spiller 45 2,055

No change in the top five - the gap between Mark & Gareth 14 points. A more comprehensive report next time!

Week 36 Report

Once in a life it can happen. That is football. Claudio Ranieri

Dilly Ding, Dilly Dong - my wildcard selections turned out wrong.
In came Alex Mitrovic - who spent just 45 minutes on the pitch

Some disastrous wild card transfers and bench boost decisions have seen me drop 200,000 places in four weeks  Can it get any worse?

1 UKnowNuthnJohnStones Gareth Yeo 51 2,187
2 ARM and Hammers Mark Leonard 32 2,186
3 Rash Rangers Robert Ashworth 59 2,120
4 Dann Tchoyi Juanmi Paul Spiller 53 2,104
5 Peregrinewellies Barry Redburn 60 2,070

For the first time Gareth Yeo goes top but by a single point! Norwich, Newcastle & Sunderland could well need that point at the season's end. Top Scorer was Paul Talbot's Loserpool Divers with 64 points - you will not be surprised to see that Paul is a Manchester United supporter! Justin Hadi's TheHad low scored on 14 points and drops to 66th place out of 67.

Overall Dimitris Gavles still leads with 2,341 points amongst his closest challengers are now For Fuch's sake, Digestive Busquets and Bayer Neverlusen. We'll catch up on the Cup Semi-Final next time.

Week 37 Report

I'll get you into the Champions League Roberto Martinez on being appointed Everton Manager. Goodbye Roberto, Goodbye Norwich, Goodbye Newcastle and Goodbye Flores!

1 UKnowNuthnJohnStones Gareth Yeo 95 2,282
2 ARM and Hammers Mark Leonard 90 2,268
3 Dann Tchoyi Juanmi Paul Spiller 94 2,190
4 Rash Rangers Robert Ashworth 59 2,179
5 Peregrinewellies Barry Redburn 83 2,149

The gap, as we enter our final week, is now 14 points in Gareth Yeo's favour. He has progressed in 20 of the last 25 weeks and still has a card to play. They think it's all over - can Mark Leonard find a winning formula in Week 38?

High scorer last week was Grant Bucher whose team Turner and Huth was the only one in a high scoring week to reach triple figures on 110 points whereas Dominic Rabbitte's team DepaybackClyne were caught in the headlights scoring just 32 points.

On now to news of the Fantasy Cup where 3,562 placed Krul and the Gang will face 2,283 placed Coyotes in the Final. Will the Gang's forward line of Deeney, Kane & Aguero do better than the Coyotes line-up of Rashford, Carroll and Kane? We'll know on Sunday.

Scores with the Manchester Utd v Bournemouth game to play:-

1 UKnowNuthnJohnStones Gareth Yeo 23 2,305
2 ARM and Hammers Mark Leonard 38 2,302

Gareth had a disastrous weekend - 6 of his selected players failing to make it onto the pitch!

Tomorrow :- Gareth will score 2pts for Dummett (on the bench); plus any points for Timothy Fosu-Mensah (Man Untd) who is also on the bench
Mark has De Gea in goal - his only opportunity to score more points.

Will De Gea play and keep a clean sheet? Find out tomorrow.

92 minutes and 35 seconds

The Premier Chess Fantasy Football League was decided with twenty five seconds of the last match remaining.

The scores as we started the last match were:-

1 UKnowNuthnJohnStones Gareth Yeo 23 2,305
2 ARM and Hammers Mark Leonard 38 2,302

as you can see below. Gareth had two points from players on his bench for 2,307 - Mark meanwhile waited for David de Gea with a clean sheet to move him to 2,308. Deep into injury time twenty five seconds to go - Chris Smalling sticks out a leg and an own goal. Six points reduced to two and the final result :-

1 UKnowNuthnJohnStones Gareth Yeo 25 2,307
2 ARM and Hammers Mark Leonard 40 2,304

They thought it was all over - it is now!
