Premier League Fantasy Football Cup

I was slightly out in my note about this - the Fantasy Cup has started in Week 18 but prequalifying was in Week 17. 34 teams failed to get through that stage leaving 29 teams in the hat in Round One. In time honoured fashion 15 teams were eliminated in their first round matches leaving just 14 teams in the draw in Week 19. Without listing them all - George's Best the League leader is still there with the lowest team Hendrik Hoffman's one legged men.

Week 18

Fixtures are coming thick and fast at the moment barely has Week 18 finished before Week 19 commences. Bob Bradley has been thrown out of the Swansea job after just 85 days in charge. We have at last lost Sam Herring from the leaderboards - whether temporarily or permanently remains to be seen. Plenty of scores in the 70s this week with Neil Milson on 78 the best of them. Now who are Kristoffer Nordfeldt, James Tarkowski and Sebastian Pocognoli? They are, in fact, members of Nick London's squad which might explain why he has just 19 points for the week and is again the low scorer.

1. George's Best George Georgiou 72 995
2. Suicide Squad Gareth Yeo 74 972
3= Harley Hotspurs Andrew Harley 62 969
3= Spocktators Mark Leonard 68 969
5 Crimson Demons Richard Dineley 51 963

Bad decision of the week Must go to me as I lost the chance to achieve the high score of the week by transferring out Firmino (10 pts) and replacing him by Sigurdsson (2 pts).

Nothing to do with fantasy football, but I was looking at the recent results and suddenly wanted to see how many times the lead had changed hands this season in the Premiership. Am struggling to find a site that shows this, preferably with one of those graphs that shows the clubs as position numbers changing (or staying the same) with each set of results. Does anyone know a site that has that sort of feature (and what that is called)? It is surprisingly hard to Google for that.

Week 19

As I was away for Week 19 and didn't fancy trying to update this thread on my mobile this is a short update as Week 20 has plenty to keep me occupied when I get round to reporting that! The top teams break the 1,000 point barrier in a week of low scores.

1 George's Best George Georgiou 56 1051
2 Harley Hotspurs Andrew Harley 56 1025
3 Suicide Squad Gareth Yeo 51 1023
4 Crimson Demons Richard Dineley 54 1017
5 Spocktators Mark Leonard 42 1011

Week 20

After a short break away Sam Herring is back into the top five. Of more concern is that League leader George Georgiou is top scorer of the week and he has now opened a significant gap to the second placed team whereas a few weeks ago the top five were very much bunched together. Low score of the week was Dave Ledger's Holy Beardhair. I have been carrying out some research into the Church of His Holy Beard and pass on this useful tip from their website Women and children of our church are encouraged to wear theatrical beards. If you cannot afford to beard your family in this tough economic climate, simply make your own with discarded hair clippings and theatrical glue! It's a fun project for the whole family on a Sunday afternoon.. Possibly a better pastime than the 4NCL?

1 George's Best George Georgiou 79 1130
2 Harley Hotspurs Andrew Harley 73 1094
3 Suicide Squad Gareth Yeo 69 1092
4 Crimson Demons Richard Dineley 67 1084
5 Show me da Mané Sam Herring 70 1074

Team name of the week - Hull supporters might have liked Phelan Groovy but yet another manager bites the Premiership dust!

Every week we lose half our teams - there were 14 left in Week 19, about half disappeared then and the same in Week 20. Three Teams remain - George's Best; Me Myself and I and finally Phoenix Son.

Second Quarter Report Weeks 11-20

Following our usual methodology here are the results from the Second Quarter - weeks in the top five shown in brackets.

1. Suicide Squad Gareth Yeo (10) 34 points
2. Harley Hotspurs Andrew Harley (9) 32 points
3. George's Best George Georgiou (7) 30 points
4. Sisu Out Mark Page (6) 19 points
5. Show me da Mané Sam Herring (8) 16 points
6. Crimson Demons Richard Dineley (7) 13 points
7. Goals Peter Roberson (3) 10 points
8. Spocktators Mark Leonard (4) 7 points
9. The Losers Sabrina Chevannes (2) 4 pts

These were the sole top five placed teams over the quarter. George's Best appeared in Week 14 and rapidly moved to the top of the League from Week 16 onwards. Who will catch him to mount a challenge in Quarter 3??

Week 21

It was a week of high scorers with 11 teams garnering 80 points or more. Had Diego Costa appeared Alan Tate could well have reached the 100 point mark instead top scoring with 95 points with his team Konte's Kants. Meanwhile Dave Ledger continues a run of low scores with a miserable 19 points of which Gary Cahill scored 6!

1 George's Best George Georgiou 79 1209
2 Harley Hotspurs Andrew Harley 75 1169
3 Show me da Mané Sam Herring 90 1164
4 Suicide Squad Gareth Yeo 69 1161
5 Spocktators Mark Leonard 89 1155

Bad decision of the week Several teams found Gareth McAuley (-3 pts) substituted from their bench. Luckily no-one seems to have nominated him as captain when his score would have doubled to -6.

And then there was one! Phoenix Son was knocked out in Week 21, Me, Myself and I in Week 22, so our last rep as we enter Week 23 is George's Best who face Klopps and Robbers!

Week 22

All pretty much the same at the head of the League with only 11 points separating the scores of the top five teams. Samuel Watts (first mention here I think) was top scorer with A * is born - but with just 70 points. Bottom of the pile was Steven Smith with 22 pts - another casualty of not using transfers/wild cards and he drops to position 62 in the League.

1 George's Best George Georgiou 59 1268
2 Harley Hotspurs Andrew Harley 51 1220
3 Show me da Mané Sam Herring 56 1220
4 Spocktators Mark Leonard 59 1214
5 Crimson Demons Richard Dineley 62 1211

Top of the pile Still by some distance is the Norwegian pundit Knut Hebæk who has scored 1473 pts - some 51 ahead of his nearest rival. This makes nine consecutive weeks at the top for Knut - his highest score was 107 pts in Week 14 - the week he moved to No 1 in the League

Last team standing George's Best are out of the Cup! They drew with 38-38 with Klopps and Robbers but were eliminated under tiebreak - in this case not sum of progressive scores but that they had a goal scorer ( Gylfi Sigurdsson of Swansea), So after six weeks of play no teams left in!

Week 23

In a week of remarkably low scoring only one team, Ben Edgell's "NEEEERRRRRRRDDDDS!!!" managed over 50 points. However closer inspection showed that Ben played his "Bench Boost" Wildcard so without this his score would have been languishing along with everyone else's. The only other team to reach 50 was Grant Bucher's "Olympique Mayonnaise" and this enabled him to squeeze into the top five for the first time.

1. George's Best George Georgiou 38 1306
2 Harley Hotspurs Andrew Harley 51 1271
3 Crimson Demons Richard Dineley 42 1253
4 Olympique Mayonnaise Grant Bucher 50 1252
5 Show me da Mané Sam Herring 31 1251

Top Transfers Incredibly the following Crystal Palace players Sullay Kaikai, Luke Dreher and Aaron Wan-Bissaka who between them have played no minutes at all this season have been transferred in to two teams each. Maybe the same two teams? Meanwhile Gabriel Fernando de Jesus (Manchester City) has been transferred in by over 81,000 managers.

Week 24

We've lost Sam Herring from the top five - but his absences have been temporary in the past. Of more interest is the poor week from League leader George's Best - the pack, led by Andrew Harley, gain ground. Dramatic scoring by those players fortunate enough to have Lukaku in their teams as captain with Graham Mill-Wilson scoring a substantial 96 points whilst Nick London's team selection including Connor Randall (who?) continues to confound.

1 George's Best George Georgiou 43 1349
2 Harley Hotspurs Andrew Harley 68 1339
3 Olympique Mayonnaise Grant Bucher 74 1326
4 Crimson Demons Richard Dineley 65 1318
5 Spocktators Mark Leonard 68 1316

Top Teams Not content in beating us in the Euros, Iceland provide the top manager of the week with Jökull Kristjánsson scoring a mind blowing 146 points [Triple captain Lukaku, Hazard, Defoe etc. etc] . Just to show how bad we are here are the nationalities of the top ten managers overall. 1. Norway 2. India 3. Ireland 4. Ireland 5. Serbia 6. England 7. Australia 8. Bulgaria 9. Australia 10. England.

Week 25

No change at the top but the pack (alright two teams) are now ready to overhaul long time leader George Georgiou. Top scorer was 3rd placed Grant Bucher whilst Adrian Matthews was bringing up the rear on 30 points. League Cup week may cause havoc with teams this week.

Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha isn't a name that rolls off the tongue and thankfully isn't in the list of players to transfer in. However he's the man who sacked Claudio Ranieri. There's plenty being written on that elsewhere so I won't add to it here - but the list of transfers out tells its own story Vardy, Mahrez and Morgan being discarded by thousands upon thousands of managers since the season started.

1 George's Best George Georgiou 56 1405
2 Harley Hotspurs Andrew Harley 64 1403
3 Olympique Mayonnaise Grant Bucher 74 1400
4 Crimson Demons Richard Dineley 51 1369
5 Spocktators Mark Leonard 50 1366

Last word from Jose Mourinho "CHAMPION OF ENGLAND and FIFA MANAGER of THE YEAR sacked.
Thats the new football claudio.keep smiling AMICO . Nobody can delete the history you wrote."

Week 26

The top five teams remain as last week - just a slight shuffle in the lower places. Just 29 points separate first and fifth. Matt Lunn's BoJan Horseman gallops up 400,000 places with a top score of 92 points whilst Marcus Joseph could only put four players on the field so scored a pitiful 8 points dropping almost as many places as Matt rose to 2,482,997th position.

1 George's Best George Georgiou 56 1461
2 Harley Hotspurs Andrew Harley 55 1454
3 Olympique Mayonnaise Grant Bucher 48 1448
4 Spocktators Mark Leonard 75 1441
5 Crimson Demons Richard Dineley 63 1432

Team name of the week With Liverpool in a bad patch we rather liked Ings can only get better or even DeClyne Ings
