I am confident that Theresa May will be elected in Maidenhead as there is an unexpected split in the Loony vote. The Official Monster Raving Loony candidate Howling Laud Hope has an independent Loony standing against him Lord Buckethead. The latter is, in fact, the sole representative of the Gremloids Party and stood previously against both Margaret Thatcher and John Major. Investigative journalists are endeavouring to find out what happened to his Lordship in the years between 1992 & 2017 and whether it's the same person who has materialised from some other planet far, far, away. Maybe it's the son of the original "Buckethead, I am your father". Leastways if his manifesto this time is the same as before - which included demolishing Birmingham and replacing it with a StarBase - we might see an unexpected winner.

Michael Basman listed here:

(BTW, don't be confused by James Berry being given as the incumbent in the results from 2015, and a Michael Berry standing this time around, his full name is Michael James Ellwood Berry - another example of sloppy journalism...)

Mike says the sum of £500 spent nn a potentially lost deposit is money well spent. It helps enable him to get his views across. I declined the opportunity to have a bet with him on how many votes he will get. He seems confident that it will reach double figures.

If his 10 nominees at least vote for him, he'll reach double figures.

That may well have been a miscount, but there are several genuine instances of it happening.

"If his 10 nominees at least vote for him, he'll reach double figures."

But many of us remember Lt Cdr Boaks (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Boaks) who stood regularly years ago and on many occasions scored single figures.

Good chap.

This thread has been rather quiet?

Anyone care to make a prediction? The result seemed obvious, but less so now.

The resulting Parliament will be little different, either in quality or personnel, from the last one. The main effect of the whole affair will be that it will have ditched the Lib Dems efforts to secure a fixed term Parliament at the first hurdle (actually, before the first hurdle).

Surprisingly high young person turnout for labour resulting in a hung parliament.

We might as well dream, before ghastly reality hits on Friday morning, with May coming close to smiling with her new 80 seat majority, and claiming that this is the vote of confidence in her to deliver a "good" brexit ..
