“I felt a lump in my mouth as the ball went in” - Terry Venables

WEEK 23 HEADLINES

After the mid-week round there’s no change among the top three, but Richard Beach and Barry Redburn extend their lead over the Tractor boy in third.

Our top mid-week man is Jono Graham with a super-duper 85, just enough to rise one place.

Quite a high low score this week, but Steven Smith’s 33 is still not enough to avoid a chain pulling.

At the bottom chris cantrill continues to close the gap on his rivals. Phew!

“We used to go around Europe every year, but this year we went to Norway and Austria.” Tommy Mooney, Birmingham's Youth Team Coach

WEEK 24 HEADLINES:

Richard Beach pulls out a 60 point lead at the top - some people think it’s all over?

In a low scoring week, Richard also took the top score with a sexy 69. Is there no stopping the man?

This week’s dung pile is won by Siddharth Swaroop with a pony 22.

At the bottom a magnificent 65 from Mike Lamb (maybe his best score ever!?) pulls him 55 points clear of chris cantrill, and within 5 points of Richard Bates.

"Sometimes you want Obertan to open his legs and do something a bit exciting" - Alan Pardew

WEEK 25 HEADLINES

The Tractor Boy is coming! He moves into second place behind Richard Beach, while the fading Barry Redburn drops to third.

Biggest score this week comes from Graham Ives’ SignalinNoise with a mighty 78.

The low score do-do goes to Dominic Rabbitte with a dark brown 26.

At the bottom the chris cantrill revival stalls and he’s now 74 points adrift of Mike Lamb and 79 behind Richard Bates.

Ben Edgell picks up an unwanted point and is now 3 points away from the magic zero. Exciting eh!

WEEK 26 HEADLINES

It’s as you were at the top. Richard Beach makes small gains over his nearest rivals, Richard Pert and Barry Redburn, while Alan Tate has crept into fourth place.

In a week of automatic substitutions top slot belongs to Mark Leonard’s Westbury Flycatchers with a nice 83, moving his team into the top ten.

Simon Brown’s meagre 16 wins this week’s used toilet seat.

Big news at the bottom is that Richard Bates has ejected himself from the last three and he's replaced by a flagging Richard Dineley. The Monkey and the Killer remain rooted in the fork and spoon categories.

In my defence, can I point out that four of my team would have been involved in the postponed matches last night? A Negredo hat-trick was almost a certainty.....

The others were useless though.

You can look forward to a bumper score in the weeks when the rearranged matches take place then :)

If I remember not to transfer them.

Is that how it works then? Surely everyone will buy lots of Man City players in the week they have two matches?

You can have a maximum of three from each team although in my case getting eleven players to play once a week is enough of a challenge

WEEK 27 HEADLINES

Life's a Beach! The Good Vibes Revival go from strength-to-strength and are walking away with it. They move 99 points clear of the Tractor Boy in second. Alan Tate and Graham Ives continue to make progress into third and fourth positions at the expense of the fading Barry Redburn.

George Georgiou goes binary with a magnificent 101 for this week’s top score. His tree people move into the top ten.

It’s Bathroom Pints and Bubbles for Greg Breed and David Grobler as they can only reach a flatulent 26.

At the bottom chris cantrill and Mike Lamb drop further behind and need snookers to extricate themselves.

And (finally) Ben Edgell's score reaches his own age in his coming to nothing quest for a perfect zero!

"And now over to Barnet for another flash from Jacqui Oatley" - Ian Robertson

WEEK 28 HEADLINES

An excellent management performance from Alan Tate who leads his Arselona into second place in the table, but still miles behind runaway leader Richard Beach.

You need to look a long way down the list for this week’s top scorer. Ihor Lewyk’s Tal Order knocks a White Rose 73.

But it’s misery for Alex Bullen as he can only bash out a dirty dozen. Now wash your hands.

A big surprise at the bottom as Mike Lamb shocks the fantasy football world with an amazing 66 score that moves him away from the tail. His plastic fork position is captured by Matthew Parry, while the beleaguered chris cantrill remains in the lowest cutlery position.

Ben Edgell nil points? Hmmmmmmm!

WEEK 29 HEADLINES

Alan Tate reduces Richard Beach’s lead down to 98 points, while Graham Ives moves into third at the expense of the Tractor Boy who drops to fifth.

Top scorer in a short week is Graham Mill-Wilson whose 66 shines brightest of all.

Oh dear, oh dear, Rob Ensor. He can’t even reach double figures. It’s an infinitesimal eight, winning his own personal squat toilet.

At the bottom the Dancing Monkey drops back into the plastic fork position, while nothing changes for chris cantrill who can pick up the wooden spoon whenever he likes.

Ben Edgell? Another 2 points. Whatever!

If you look at the last ten games and you turn the league table upside down, we wouldn't be far off top six. - Stephen Hunt.

WEEK 30 HEADLINES

Richard Beach is so far ahead he looks uncatchable, so interest shifts to the runner-up spot where there are eleven teams within 50 points of glory, led by Alan Tate.

This week'stop dog with 76 is a one-legged-man aka Hendrik Hoffmann. Brilliant!

Richard Dineley and chris cantrill with nineteen apiece bag this week's continence management set.

At the bottom.......oh I can't be bothered.

WEEK 31 HEADLINES

A midnight feast of a week. Loads of hundreds. Pineapple chunks, tinned sardines, hard-boiled eggs, pickled onions and lashings of ginger beer all round. Alan Tate makes tiny in-roads into Richard Beach's overall lead.

Alan Tate's record high score of 167 is one of 48 century makers. Special mention Mark Leonard for his 164.

In any normal week a 55 score would be reasonable, but for Siddharth Swaroop this week it's Harpic!

In the lower reaches it's a load of chris cantrill.

"Ji-Sung Park is probably not as young as he was when he arrived at Old Trafford all those years ago" - Ray Houghton

WEEK 32 HEADLINES

The gap at the top is down to 88 points, but it's not coming down fast enough for Alan Tate to catch Richard Beach. Paul Cooksey has been in the top ten for most of the season, now he’s in the top three.

The trombone plays for Dewi Jones as his 76 hits the high note.

Chris Cantrill is once again the winner of the limescale on the wall with a putrid 25.

At the bottom - yes it’s chris cantrill, still.

As one of the uninitiated, I'd just venture ask - why the big difference in levels of scores reported in the last two posts? Was it systematic or did everyone have a good day followed by a bad one next time, by chance?
