I'm struggling with the 40 point rule being not appropriate. Doesn't this mean that much higher players underperform against much weaker players (i.e. grading difference more than 50), since their higher player's expected score will be more than 1?I then used an iterative process to work out grades for these players based only on games within the sample group. The calculation process followed the ECF system with 2 exceptions. Firstly, juniors did not receive a junior supplement. Secondly, the 40 point rule was not applied )as it is not appropriate for this kind of iteration).
I understand the point with respect to juniors. Sorry if this point has been addressed in some other thread.
