Hi all,
I was just wondering how many results FIDE-rated it takes to reach a published FIDE rating? I have heard references to the system by several organisers, but nobody has actually explained to me exactly how it works.
Best wishes,
Alexander Hardwick.

Re: How many results to get a FIDE rating?
You need to play 9 FIDE rated games, although these need not be in one event. If spread accross more than one event, each event must comprise at least 3 rated games in order to be counted. The new player must score at least 1 point in their first event to be counted.
In a swiss, only games against rated players get rated.
In an all play all, all games get rated (both against rated and unrated players) provided certain conditions are met.
