So can I just specify . I get my last 7 games in terms of date + 23 i got by email

It makes a sizable difference . As the last 7 games are 211 x7 and the overall is 7x193, the latter brings me below 200.

Whereas the former could deprive you of a chance to win an under 200 tournament

Richard Hadrell seemed to suggest that it could be a bit hit or miss where Congresses are involved or if league games were all input with the same date. Apparently all games with the same date are included, or none of them. You might need to find your print from last year to check what exactly will have happened. So it might not be the last 7 if you have other games with the same date as the most distant game.

Your point about the average being 193 against the last seven 211 is going to become a bigger issue with six monthly grading. It could equally be the other way round, one bad tournament or a set of dodgy league results. :( .

I empathise with Ben, I care a bit about being over 200 even if intellectually I know grades are a bit flakey at the moment.

I've no idea at all what my last few games were the year before last.

It is a personal aim for me, I had a terrible tournament when I last saw you Paul(Newmarket) and this truly will dent my next list ambition for 200+. Ironically Roger. I almost only played 4NCL at the end of my last grading, so whilst it is a difference, it is not a massive difference . Lots of my 30 games in my A grade were from Summer tournaments.

Does anyone know why juniors have *'s next to them and different grades to their published ones. It means not much different to me as one is +10(who i lost to) and one is -10 who i beat?

I believe the * means the grade has gone through the junior iteration process.

I had a terrible year the year before last. Dropped 8 points in relatively few games. But thought I could forget it,

216 for 12 games 10/11, you'd think I could relax. But seems I get all of my 19x games from 09/10, and a few games from 08/09 It might be close. 08/09 was 212 overall, but fairly sure I lost to a 170ish at the end of the season, so it is making me nervous.

If I'd been paying attention to the change I'd have played a tournament last year to increase my game count and be sure. :(

To be fair, Berkshire League is one of the hardest leagues for "ECF" in my view. Having played in the Norfolk, Suffolk, Sussex, Middlesex, London , Bucks, TV, Bristol in recent seasons. Id rate the Berkshire League as one of the toughest in this respect.

In fairness, that was a good game compared to the effort against Daniel. Maybe I should start a thread on "I always lose against my hometown club, regardless of how weak the opposition" :) . Also, "Hat indoors? Young people, eh." :)

In my defense ...I am 16 in that photo. I wish the BCM editors would use more recent photos :P!

Not sure if this was answered elsewhere on this thread because, quite frankly, after reading some of the posts, it makes me wonder what mind altering drugs some of you higher rated prima donna's (sic) are consuming. And more to the point, where do you get hold of them!?

Anyway, you can actually check on the ECF website those tourneys which have been submitted for grading... here's a link:

http://www.sccu.ndo.co.uk/events1011.htm

This page is a link from the ECF website, the page it links to can be found here:

http://www.englishchess.org.uk/?page_id=19

Hope that helps and my apologies if I have repeated information already provided or caused offence with my rather caustic (but incredibly insightful (sic?!?!?)) comments. :D

Not wishing to distract the volunteers who do all the work at this busy time of year....

Is it anticipated that the new grades will be out before the start of the British?

No problem one way or the other, just trying to manage expectations ...
