Carl Hibbard stepping down

Post by LozCooper » Mon Aug 01, 2011 11:03 am

Carl Hibbard, who developed the online grading database (not to mention the English Chess Forum), will be stepping down from supporting the grading database in a few months time. The ECF is looking for a volunteer to take over responsibility for further development of the online site. If you are interested in contributing to this key element of ECF grading, please contact the ECF Office, providing details of your relevant experience.

Finally on behalf of the ECF, I should like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to Carl for his work in this area. The online grading database is widely appreciated by the English chess-playing community and provides an invaluable service

- Chris Majer, ECF Manager of Grading

I would like to thank CH for all of the great work he has done. Sorry to hear that he is stepping down.

I assume that this forum will remain?

Hi Carl,

From somebody who uses the database regularly, many thanks for setting it all up and keeping it going and giving up much of your time to do so.

Best wishes,

Krishna

Whoops just noticed the same thread on the Grading Debate page. Mind you I do think the ECf page is a better home for it.

Thanks to Carl for his work on the database.

Quick question: is it a one person job? I don't have the experience to do it myself, but I could probably learn enough PHP/other technology to help out. Worth a try and I could do with the experience, but I'm sure they've got better people :).
