Grading versus ungraded player

If you play a game against an ungraded player who plays no other graded games, what effect would this result have on your grade?

It's going to depend on the estimate given to your opponent. If you draw, the estimate will be your own grade, so it will count as a draw against a player of equal grade. If you win, he's going to get an estimate 40 or 50 points below you, so that's a win against a player 40 points lower, in other words your grade plus 10. If you lose, it's a loss against a player 40 points higher, so your grade minus 10. That's the calculation of cumulative points for your next grade, the resulting published grade is going to depend on how many other games have been played over the grading period. If thirty games are used, the effect is one third of a grading point for a win/loss.
