I am sorry to inform you that Gordon Sands has passed away suddenly.
Gordon joined Mercia Chess Club last year, having had a few years away from chess.
Previously he was a long time member of Wolverhampton Chess Club.
He was a keen, valued and respected member of Mercia and will be sadly missed.
More details will be published when I have them.

The funeral details have been announced for Gordon Sands:
It will be held on Tuesday 12th March at 12.15pm, at Bushbury Crematorium, Underhill Lane, Wolverhampton, WV10 7JG.
There will be a gathering after at Fordhouses Cricket Club, Jack Threlfall Memorial Ground, Wobaston Road, Wolverhampton, WV9 5HH.
It will be held on Tuesday 12th March at 12.15pm, at Bushbury Crematorium, Underhill Lane, Wolverhampton, WV10 7JG.
