I am sorry to inform you that Joyce Evans passed away on 2nd March 2024.
Joyce had been a member of Halesowen Chess Club since 1977.
Her last competitive game (which she won!) was in the annual Summer match last year between Stourbridge and Halesowen.
Despite approaching 90 years of age, Joyce was very much looking forward to the 23/24 league season, but sadly suffered a variety of health issues over Autumn and Winter.
The funeral arrangements are 11am on Tuesday 26th March at Stourbridge Crematorium followed by a reception at Halesowen Cricket Club.

A sad loss! Joyce played in over 40 county matches for Worcestershire. Whenever I played away matches at Halesowen she always had a warm welcome. I Understand that she was a special needs teacher before she retired. Ray Collett (President Worcestershire Chess Association)
