Stuart Morgan passed away about a month ago. I have not been able to establish exactly when however his family had notified CCA. Stuart was for decades responsible for nurturing more junior players than any other member of Cleveland chess association. The list is endless of players he coached but I think his most famous pupil is Grandmaster Gawain Jones. Stuart looked after Gawain in his early days. Stuart was a teacher at Prior Pursglove school at Guisborough where he also ran a chess club and later he ran Guisborough chess club. A strong player whose contribution to chess in Cleveland cannot be overstated. He will be missed.
BTW I can no longer play chess and have no involvement however I felt it the right thing to do to mention on this forum Stuarts passing.
