I am sorry to inform you that former Olton Chess Club player Robert Wallman has passed away at the age of 63.
Robert had stopped playing over-the-board during the restart after the Covid pandemic to look after his mother, although he was still playing internet chess against Leamington & District League players.
Robert had been at Olton Chess Club since at least the eighties, playing in the second team in Divisions 2 & 3 in the Birmingham & District Chess League.
Later, Robert would be in Division 1 or first reserve from the Division 2 side. He particularly enjoyed the League 10-second tournament.
No funeral details have been announced at this stage.
