Two questions:
1) I know that he was actually quite a strong bridge player (and presented programmes on that) but did he ever play chess other than socially?
2) There was a "jeremyjames" on the guardian comment threads just a short while ago - anybody know if it was him?

Almost certainly was Jeremy on the Guardian thread, Matt, for he and I commented on each other´s posts there a few years back.
He was bilingual and resided in France.
