Its with regret I have to inform you of the death of Peter Furlong, his funeral is Wednesday 21th September at Walton Crematorium, Warrington.

He used to rung the Bookstall in the Past in the Manchester Area at Congresses but also he was an Lancashire Honorary Vice-President and also an member of Formby chess club

Peter Furlong was a member in the past and still remembers some of the older players. Peter now plays for Winwick chess club when he is not at his second home in Florida

Many in the NW especially will remember him well, and he was a strong player in his day. RIP.

A good and decent man. Mild-mannered, as I recall, and helpful. I didn't know him that well; and many years have passed. But his name prompts warm memories. I'm sorry to hear the news. RIP
