I think this gentleman represented Wales in the 1979 World Junior Championship...

Sad to learn of his passing.

Only just seen this :(

Dave Flower was my History teacher at Highbury Grove School in the early 90s. I had no idea he was a Chess player. I would of probably been in the same hall as him on occasions as I played for Hackney. Wish I knew as would of said hello. Was one on my fav teachers. I am sure he would of remembered me as my surname not many forget it.

Thank for teaching me Dave and RIp.
2013/2014 and 16/17 U140 Grand Prix Winner! ;)

2015 and 2016 Chess character of the year :)

Its not a failure to lose. Its a failure when you dont try and win.

There's a moving memorial here...

I'm sure he would have been amused by the school publishing a photograph showing the slogan on the placard over his right shoulder.

Er, yes - I think I played him at tournaments at that very venue. I'm not sure it does him any favours to talk about whom he hated. He seemed a nice guy.
