Zoltan Sarosy (1906-2017)
Almost certainly the strongest chess player amongst supercentenarians ever - he was master strength OTB and became one of the best correspondence players in his adopted country of Canada. And one of the very last people alive who played in inter-war master events, in his native Hungary (including national championships) His passing really is the end of an era - RIP.

Indeed. Sarosy beat me in the 3rd North Atlantic Team Tournament (postal) which started in 1990. He was only in his mid-80s then and not long before (1988) he had been awarded the ICCF international master title. He was still playing ICCF events by email up to about 2002/3.Matt Mackenzie wrote:Almost certainly the strongest chess player amongst supercentenarians ever - he was master strength OTB and became one of the best correspondence players in his adopted country of Canada.
