Thanks John, Mark's reports are well worth a look
In the 50+, Glenn drew, Neil won but Jim lost; Keith is unsurprisingly still playing
EDIT Keith eventually drew in 103 moves
Scotland 1 v England 1 tomorrow
Canada v England 2

Re: World Senior Team Championships, Prague, March 2020
How many rounds left? The BBC live news feed just reported this update from the Czechs:
Czechs famously like to appear stoical in the face of adversity, but the state of emergency declared by the government on Thursday afternoon is draconian in the extreme.
To limit the spread of Covid-19, the existing school closures and bans on public events attended by over 100 people have been ramped up. Now all events attended by over 30 people have been banned [...]

"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Quoting in full (from the official FIDE Twitter account):
In connection with the coronavirus crisis and the new preventive measures adopted by the government of the Czech Republic, we have to call an early end to the World Senior Team Championship: a winner will be declared after the 7th round, currently being played.

I suppose the question should be asked: in such circumstances, would FIDE award seven-round title norms?

The answer can be found in 1.41b.IM Jack Rudd wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 7:29 pmI suppose the question should be asked: in such circumstances, would FIDE award seven-round title norms?

So the answer is yes, 7-round norms are possible (providing the termination of the event doesn't invalidate things).1.4
The GM, IM, WGM, WIM titles can also be gained by achieving norms in internationally rated tournaments played according to the following regulations.
1.41 The number of games
[...]
1.41b
only 7 games are required for 7 round World Team or Club and Continental Team or Club Championships ,
only 7 games are required for 8 or 9 round World Team or Club and Continental Team or Club Championships ,
only 8 games are required for the World Cup or Women`s World Championship Tournament, where these 8 game norms count as 9 games.
So were any norms achieved?

Because later, the links may stop working or the meaning not be clear from the context. I shouldn't complain though, so maybe let's leave it there.
