World Senior Teams 2023, September 18 to 29

The World Senior Teams Championships for players above 50 and above 65 years of age, will take place from 18th – 29th September 2023 in Struga, Ohrid Lake, North Macedonia.

The championships will be held in 9 rounds, played in the Swiss system following the FIDE Regulations. According to FIDE rules, the time control will be 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.
England 50+ will be lead by Mickey Adams and 65+ by John Nunn according to the June edition of Chess Moves

Great result for Russell (congratulations!). Black was better at some points as well.

Wonder when Vitiugov will become eligible for the 50+ team? :wink:

(In 14 years, in case anyone really wanted to know.)

In the 50+, top seeds USA drew with North Macedonia in round 3

Round 4 has Iceland (6) v England 1 (6), USA (5) v England 2 (4)

round 4 pairings

In the 65+, England 1 beat 3rd seeded Slovakia in round 3

Round 4 has a meeting of the top seeds with Germany Lasker (6) v England 1 (6), and Germany (5) v Israel (5)
