Mm - dunno, the extra time will be helpful certainly but I don't see a winning R and 3 v R and 2 and, if not, it's going to be very long term. I am slightly worried about commenting on Keith's endgames for obvious reasons 'cos he might come on here and point out something simple but there we are.

The most plausible explanation for that would be that some irregularity occurred. Perhaps Danielsen adjusted the pawn on g6 without saying "j'adoube" first and was forced to move it.

Keith`s game looks like a draw (move 39 ) although Keith wins many Rook and Pawn endings which look drawn.

Yes indeed, drawn for normal players, but Keith isn't normal so who knows?

Unfortunately Tony Stebbings lost to ex-senior champion GM Vaisser after almost 90 moves and over five hours, making a blunder trying to valiantly defend B+3 v N+4.
However he has still had a great first week and his 4.5/6 is easily the best British performance of week one in the 65+.

In the 50+ Keith Arkell is on 5/6 (two draws) and Terry Chapman has 4.5, both very well placed.

Day off tomorrow fortunately.

Keith has won already.

Arkell 6/7, Vlassov and Reprintsev 5.5/6 and playing each other in a drawn position, will likely share the lwad in the 50+ world championship with four rounds left. Terry Chapman on 4.5/6 stands level with the No3 seed from Ecuador, Matamoros, though plenty of play remains in that game.

I don't think Keith can get more than a draw from this game (move 44)
