Kent FIDE Congress 8-9 July 2023

Post by Brendan O'Gorman » Thu Feb 23, 2023 12:00 pm

Good to see a weekend congress returning to this excellent Tunbridge Wells venue. Details and online entry here: https://congress.org.uk/congress/259/home
London based players might like to note that Tunbridge Wells is a 45-47 minute train journey from London Bridge. The venue is a few minutes walk from the station.

In the years to 2019, there was also the Weald Congress. That was in the same part of the world also in the summer, but rather nearer to Gatwick Airport. I think it was run by the East Sussex junior organisation. That was an Open etc with three rounds on the Saturday but at a league move rate for three hour games give or take the effects of the increment.

"In the years to 2019, there was also the Weald Congress."

I believe that was at Copthorne.

After a successful 1st Orpington Rapid Play tournament earlier in May this year, we (Psyon Chess) have had a surprisingly overwhelming response to the inaugural Kent FIDE Congress to be held in Tunbridge Wells between 8th & 9th July - the event was over-subscribed with about 2 weeks to go...as we explore to fulfil the waitlist.

Psyon Chess has also planned an International Masters Norm Tournament between 7th to 11th August 2023 in London at the popular Mindsports Centre, 21 Dalling Road, W6 0JD. The event details appear here "https://chess-results.com/tnr781992.asp ... ES&flag=30"
If you or anyone else in your network is interested in playing (as Norm-seekers) then please get in touch as soon as possible to help complete the line up.
