Did you mean 2438 v 2400? It's not such a big difference and it's what you get if you use a linear approximation (Clarke / rule of 400 formula). The approximation is that results between players 400 points apart are treated as 100%/0% whereas using the probability distributions underpining the Elo tables there is a non zero probability of a draw or win for the lower rated player.

Re: 2nd Cambridge International Open
The crossover point's around 200 difference; below that, the Elo system gives higher expected scores than the Clarke system for the stronger player, whereas it's the other way round for higher differences.

Whatever it is, here's the relevant information: https://handbook.fide.com/chapter/B012024
To get an IM norm with 6/9 requires an adjusted ARO of 2325 or higher, whereas for a score of 6½, it needs to be 2284 or higher.

IM Wachinger met 5 federations none of which were his own, included in which were 4 GMs, but was short of a GM normChristopher Kreuzer wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 11:35 amThe Lithuanian FM Aras Vardanyan might be a good example of how it was possible to meet a good mix of federations in this tournament:IM Jack Rudd wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 7:03 pmFava needed to have played at least four players who weren't Italian (he did), three players who weren't English (he didn't), and players from two non-Italy nationalities (he didn't).
