There are three tournaments, FIDE Open, Major and Minor.
I played last year and would recommend this congress - there are very few opportunities to play FIDE rated chess in the North West

I presume since I last played there in 2010, they have improved the playing conditions
I know for a fact that the space for each board was definitely not to FIDE standards

I thought it was Ok on my first visit last year, although my play wasn't to FIDE standards

Leyland has moved venue since then (and the B of the Bang sculpture at the CoM has been scrapped too, nice photos though)
