The "Southport 15"

The "Southport 15" is the first of what we hope to establish as an annual "pre-season fillip".

It is a one-evening five round Swiss competition with each player having 15 minutes per game.

Venue: The Railway Club, 106 Sussex Road, Southport PR9 0SJ

Date: Tuesday 11th September 2012

Start: 19:30

Last entries: 19:00 on the night, in advance much preferred if possible

Format: 5 rounds, each player has 15 minutes per game to complete all his or her moves

Entry fee: £5, £2 concessions and juniors

Structure: entrants will be divided into four bands ("A-D"), by grade. Pairings will be on the "Swiss" system

Prizes: the entry "pot" will be distributed as prizes, 15% to the winner of each band, 5% to the runner up in each band, 10% top junior in Band C, 5% each to the top two juniors in Band D

We hope the event will take off and become widely known and well attended, but the inaugural event will only be advertised to Southport adults and juniors and to Woodvale, plus individuals by word of mouth. If it works well, we will widen the pool in 2013.
