2nd Kings Place Festival, 14th June 2014
if you played in the first Kings Place chess festival (190 players) on 15th June, then put the next tournament in your diary! We have booked the venue for 14th June 2014, including room for 250 players and space in the evening for another event.
It will be amazing, with more coverage on the internet and commentary on the games, and a chance to relax by the canal with a drink between rounds We are looking for a sponsor who would like to put their name to the Festival - and the deadline to appear in the printed summer catalogue is end of August. We will have banners across the front of the building, the stage, and advertising on the website.
If you are interested then contact me, as soon as possible, and I would be glad to give you a tour of the marvellous venue.

Or a chance to plunge into the canal head first if results don't go your way?Adam Raoof wrote:It will be amazing, with more coverage on the internet and commentary on the games, and a chance to relax by the canal with a drink between rounds

If the weather is this good next year, it might be tempting no matter how the event is going! There is a notice banning swimming however ;-(Alex Holowczak wrote:Or a chance to plunge into the canal head first if results don't go your way?Adam Raoof wrote:It will be amazing, with more coverage on the internet and commentary on the games, and a chance to relax by the canal with a drink between rounds

Dear Friends,
I'm writing to invite you to the 2nd Kings Place Festival, which is taking place on 14th June 2014. The venue is superb and is situated right next to King's Cross so it's easy to get to. We had 187 players last year, and this year we have more space and aim to break the 200 barrier!
The first prize in the Open is £1000, and if you are interested in taking part, then please register here - http://www.kingsplace.co.uk/chess and there is no entry fee to the Open for IMs and GMs but we have a finite number of places. If you know anyone who might enjoy the event please do forward the links to them.
Here is a list of players who have entered so far including Simon Williams, Simon Ansell, Mark Hebden, Malcolm Pein and Tom Rendle.
https://kingsplace.wufoo.eu/reports/2nd ... june-2014/
IM Lawrence Trent and Nick Murphy will be doing live commentary with the assistance of the players, and Dave Clayton will be covering the top boards on the internet, so we'd love to see you there!

Now at 117 players, and we have secured extra playing room on the mezzanine level, so that competitors in the Minor will be able to contemplate a lovely art exhibition whilst they try to master the Spanish.
Weather looks good for the weekend, and you can analyse your games with a drink by the canal!
