Golders Green Easter Congress, 19-21 April 2014

Post by Adam Raoof » Mon Feb 17, 2014 7:40 pm

I am pleased to announce that we will be holding our second weekend congress at Golders Green over the Easter weekend of 19-21 April 2014. As this is a three day event, it will take the following format;

There will be three sections, an Open (with a British Championship Qualifying Place), an Under 1900 (or ECF 160 if you don't have a standard FIDE rating already) and an Under 1600 (or Under ECF 120).

There will be a first prize of £200 and a second prize of £100 in each section.

The time control is all the moves in 90 minutes per player PLUS 30 seconds a move.

There will be SIX ROUNDS, with two rounds a day, at 10.30am-2.30pm and 3pm-7pm.

All sections will be rated by FIDE and graded by the English Chess Federation. If you are English then you will have to be a member of the ECF at Gold or Platinum to participate. Non-English players don't have to be a member of the ECF but DO have to supply a FIDE ID number with their entry.

We have space for 100 players.

I forgot to mention that, as players at Golders Green know already, there is plenty of free parking in the area on all three days. You have to read the guidance on the website, but despite being right next to the tube at Golders Green we can still find spaces a short walk away.

According to TFL there do not appear to be any planned engineering works for Easter weekend on the Northern Line, which is great news for anyone considering travelling to the tournament by public transport!
