G/60 can be fun, but such a shame you have to put your FIDE rating at risk to play in it.

It's G/60 + 30s a move - which is not a bad compromise if you want to play three games in one day. It's the equivalent of a three hour game. My recent experience of Fischer timings has been that it improves the quality of the games. Though not necessarily of my game.

That's a good theory, if only it felt that way in practice!

Adam, any chances of creating an u140 in your events? From U120 and U160 is a huge gap. I have noticed so many non games in the first few rounds of the u160. Surely making a u140 will make all games more competitive.
2013/2014 and 16/17 U140 Grand Prix Winner! ;)

2015 and 2016 Chess character of the year :)

Its not a failure to lose. Its a failure when you dont try and win.

Hi Lee - this is certainly on my list of ideas to try. Entries for this congress are starting to trickle in...

Yeah an U160 Section is a bit steep for getting the 5 hour coach from Leeds to GG. I’d do it to play in an U140 though.

Having said that Jon, people do come on the coach from far and wide just to play in the rapidplay! I wonder if there is scope for asking players if they have a spare sofa?

There may well be Adam :) I was looking into coming to the RP this weekend, however, the only way to do it was to get on a slow 5 hour coach at 12am tonight and get there for something like 5am - obviously then there is 5.5 hours of waiting around at Golders Green for it to start - I think by then, I'd be a bit limp for Chess

There were faster early morning coaches, but sadly arrived an hour too late.
