Re: National Club Championships 11-12 April 2015
The Men from the Ministry enjoyed last year’s competition so much they’re coming back for more! This time it’s serious and we expect to enter two teams, one in the 175 section and one in the 125 section. We’re hoping to do better than the ½/4 we scored in the 125 last year. Unfortunately, on checking the January 2015 grading database I see all our rivals who finished ahead of us in 2014, including Champions Hackney, will be able to field the same line-ups again. Doh! But as the Pope once wrote “Hope springs eternal in the breast of man” or as Wishbone Ash put it “Hope springs eternal….. it's gonna be a long lonely summer of pain”.
Anyway. Are there any other Clubs contemplating a weekend at the Holiday Inn near Birmingham Airport on 11/12 April 2015? It’ll be good to see all those who turned out last year make a return, and maybe there'll be a few more enthusiasts. It’s the same hotel used for the recent 4NCL congress, exceptionally good for £55 a night, and excellent playing conditions. It comes recommended.
Last year’s winners:
Open Hackney
175 Section Wycombe & Hazelmere
150 Section Bedford
125 Section Hackney 2
If you’re coming, see you there! It’ll be fun.

The Pope could not have written this because the Pope is infallible, and this misquotes Alexander Pope:David Gilbert wrote:as the Pope once wrote “Hope springs eternal in the breast of man”
Hope springs eternal in the human breast,
Man never is, but always to be blessed
The same cannot be said of Wishbone Ash

Ahem, the pope is infallible only when speaking ex cathedra.David Robertson wrote:The Pope could not have written this because the Pope is infallible, and this misquotes Alexander Pope:David Gilbert wrote:as the Pope once wrote “Hope springs eternal in the breast of man”

What a band. Listened to them again recently for the first time in a couple of decades - had forgotten how good they were.

...... and maybe a short mention of the 4NCL's role in organising a free venue for the ECF?
Sorry - thought I would just make the point in the absence of any acknowledgement from our august national body.

Devon will be well represented at this event: Barnstaple are entering a close to full-strength team in the Major section.

Sounds a cracking team, Jack. But Wycombe & Hazlemere were outstanding last year and if they turn out again they'll be a tough nut to crack. Yep it's going to be fun, fun, fun all right, even if daddy does take that t-bird away!
