Easter Congresses
The calendar on the ECF website advertises four Easter Congresses
CCF at Coulsdon
WECU at Exmouth
Southend
Bolton
There's also the WCU (Welsh Chess Union) in Cardiff which offers discounted entry for the next couple of days.
Any others?

Surrey will be doing a rapidplay on Easter Monday (the form is ready but the website is not, so we haven't put it on the calendar yet).

Noting the move rate and the round times, it's not just UK Congresses that are faster and shorter than the FIDE requirements.Brendan O'Gorman wrote:I can recommend the Easter tournament at Delft: http://www.delftseschaaksite.nl/toernoo ... dtoernooi/

Bolton for me, nice little congress. Usually give the busy persons rapid on the Sat afternoon a miss though, it's an open so a bit pointless to the likes of me

Re: Easter Congresses
Adam, you should change the description of the time control on the website, less anyone be confused unnecessarily.
It says
"All moves in 90 minutes folloowed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with the addition of 30 seconds per move from move 1.
(Approximates to a five hour session.)"
which obviously is nonsensical. Should be 40 moves in 90 minutes...

We have pulled the plug on the one day Surrey Congress rapidplay on Easter Monday. The (now) traditional junior congress is going ahead on the same day.

(Also well done to whoever did the digital clock page on the Essex website. It's a nice, simple explanation covering the DGT2010.)

Southend seems to have snared a fairly big fish. Brave man to take on all us 'under-rated' Brits

Re: Easter Congresses
Southend now has 110 entries with no doubt more to come. 60 in the Open so far and top of the bottom half at the moment is Gordon Scott who is 207 - yes, you read this right, Gordon is currently top of the bottom half.

Re: Easter Congresses
On FIDE ratings maybe. On ECF gradings he's way above top of the bottom half.
