3rd Kings Place Festival, Saturday 11th July 2015

Dear Friends,

I'm writing to invite you to the 3rd Kings Place Festival, which is taking place on 11th July 2015. The venue is superb and is situated right next to King's Cross so it's easy to get to. We had 170 players last year, and this year we have more space and aim to break the 200 barrier!

The first prize in the Open is £1000, and if you are interested in taking part, then please register here - http://www.kingsplace.co.uk/chess and there is no entry fee to the Open for IMs and GMs but we have a finite number of places. If you know anyone who might enjoy the event please do forward the links to them.

The event is in now in five sections, Open (for the strongest players), Major Under 170, Minor Under 145 and Amateur Under 120. These are based on ECF grades. Under 85 My First Chess Tournament If you have never had a grade over 85, then you should play in this section. Ideal for your first competitive event!

www.kingsplace.co.uk/chess is the website.

GM Chris Ward and Nick Murphy will be doing live commentary with the assistance of the players, and Dave Clayton will be covering the top boards on the internet, so we'd love to see you there!

Is anyone else getting the "You are not authorized to access this page." message when trying to access the link www.kingsplace.co.uk/chess?

It looks as if that website functions only as a calendar for future events as well as general promotion. As soon as an event has taken place, access to the details of it is removed.

I am trying to get this page revived, but in the mean time

www.chessengland.com

has what you need!

PS good article by Barden in the Guardian, makes fair points regarding prizes. I need a sponsor - anyone interested in sponsoring the event for next year should contact me directly. If I get any sponsorship I will add it to the prize fund.
