Michael Uriely Memorial Tournament - Sunday 17th April 2016

This Sunday 17th April, the Michael Uriely Memorial Tournament is taking place at Westminster School, near to Pimlico tube station.

Barnet Knights club member Michael was just 9 years old last August when he sadly passed away from an asthma attack. Michael was well known to many in the chess community, and a regular at the rapidplays and blitzes run by our club.

Michael's parents have organised this chess tournament in his memory, with other events alongside it.

Over 150 players have entered already, and the Open section is shaping up to be a very strong event, with a number of top players including chess legends GM Matthew Sadler and GM Julian Hodgson competing:

In between the rounds there will be a few extra features, including short and thought-provoking talks about chess and non-chess related subjects and a chess-themed general knowledge quiz.
