John Nunn was Black against John Hickman. The game had a Reshevsky - Bronstein look to it with colours reversed, so a reversed version of those Kings Indians where Black takes on d4 early on and then plays a5-a4 and Qa5. There's a weak pawn on d6 (d3), so play can revolve around this.

When I last saw it, John Hickman's Knights had occupied b6 and b3 but the weight of the struggle had switched to the Kingside.

Keith played a Modern Benoni, but perhaps only because his opponent had played a less threatening g3 system.

Let's just say that John Nunn was far better at being Reshevsky than I was at being Bronstein :D

One of my chess ambitions is to get a coloured box on a wall chart someday

I was quite pleased with it.

My score of 4 out of 5 will get me either equal second or equal third; Nunn finished on 4½, and Arkell may or may not have joined him.

1 John Nunn 4.5 2= Keith Arkell, Jack Rudd & Mike Waddington 4. The way the scores and some of the games are presented on the link is refreshingly different to the rather formal chess results server we are used to.
