Quite normal for Blackpool I think - the field in the Open is just a bit big for a 5 round open to produce a strictly reliable winner. A good sort of problem to have really!

Great tournament, and I'd have liked to have made it 3 wins on the bounce ( from my POV) , but it's so bloody expensive, so I settled for the easy pickings of Exeter instead, only to find it.....wasn't easy pickings!

He lives in Paignton so the train travel would be considerably more not to mention an extra nights accommodation on Sunday.

The Quiet Move is a new chess website set up by Andrew Sainsbury, who plays for Chorlton Chess Club in Manchester and recently appeared in Jon Speelman's 'Chess Agony Column'. Andrew is doing his arbiter courses and I expect he was at Blackpool as part of the arbiting team.
