Hi Jim - is this an official ECF event awarding titles?
Who is arbiting at this event?
Congratulations on putting together a great event and good luck!

As well as Adam's questions, prospective entrants might want to know the entry fees, whether it's going to be ECF graded and FIDE rated and for the grade restricted sections, what the hierarchy of grades will be for determining eligibility.Adam Raoof wrote: Congratulations on putting together a great event and good luck!

Which events will be both FIDE rated and ECF graded?JamesGallagher wrote:All details requested now published on website:
How will the rating hierarchy operate?
The London Classic rapidplay went in order of preference for seeding and rating prizes
FIDE quickplay
ECF quickplay (converted)
FIDE standard
ECF standard (converted)
That was only one section, so questions of eligibility didn't arise.

Hi Roger
I have just had confirmation that all 4 tournaments that span the 2 days will be both FIDE-rated and ECF-graded in the same fashion as the London classic
Let me know if any other questions
Thanks
Jim

Were you a dentist, Roger, in a previous life?
Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

It's a rational question. I don't have a FIDE rapidplay rating. My standard FIDE is 1954, standard ECF 176 and rapid ECF 183. Would anyone with that rating or a similar pattern be eligible to play in the under 180 section?Brian Towers wrote:Were you a dentist, Roger, in a previous life?

Re: Liverpool Englsh Rapidplay Congress now open for registrations
I'd guess from the wording on the website that ECF rapidplay grades have the highest priority in determining eligibility but it would be good to get confirmation of this (and to know whether it applies to all grade categories A-F as quite a few players have rapidplay grades based on only a few games).Roger de Coverly wrote:

Re: Liverpool Englsh Rapidplay Congress now open for registrations
I have an ECF Rapidplay grade of exactly 0. I've never played a graded Rapidplay game in my life. And I hadn't expected to play any, ever, until now. But £500 top prize in the u-120 seems like an offer I can't resist. It's a decent case or two of wine, just for a few of games of skittles against guys who can barely play the game. No disrespect and stuff. But honestly, come on...
So...what's the answer to Roger's 'hierarchy' question?

Ah yes, the old "a zero is not the same as a null" thing.

Are the same formulae for converting FIDE/ECF Longplay grades used for Rapidplay grades ?
