2024 Shropshire Junior Chess Championships: Saturday 23rd March

The annual Shropshire Junior Chess Championships will be held on Saturday 23rd March at Charlton School (Telford).

5 sections:
U8's
U10's
U12's
U14's
U18's

There will be trophies for the winners (top boy and top girl) and if they score 50% or more they are guaranteed a medal. Everyone will receive a certificate.

Playing Schedule:
Round 1 10am-11am
Round 2 11am-12pm
Round 3 12pm-1pm
Lunch
Round 4 2pm-3pm
Round 5 3pm-4pm
Round 6 4pm-5pm
Prizegiving 5pm-6pm

Outside the main tournament kids will be able to have a go on our giant chess board, enter the puzzle competition or play friendly matches against their fellow enthusiastic young chess players. The top boards in each section will be broadcast live with in-person commentary provided by FIDE master Jonathan Blackburn.

And for the parents home-made cakes along with tea's and coffees will be available to purchase throughout the day.
