Akshaya Kalaiyalathan (see my earlier post about her in this thread) is also on the live boards in the girls U12. She has 5.5/8, has already gained 35 Fide rating points, and a win today will probably ensure her a top ten finish. An important point is that she will still be an U12 in 2013. She played another excellent strategic game yesterday. I really like her mature style and think she could have the potential both to be a serious medal contender in 2013 and to become a leading UK woman player by her mid-teens. I recommend her to any 4NCL team looking for a female board for next season.

You'd have to say that Josh's last game somehow draws comparisons with Gawain Jones ...

http://chess-results.com/tnr79011.aspx? ... NG&flag=30 shows Joshua third on tie-break whilst Aditya Verma finished eighth. The top seed from Russia and outright leader after round eight lost to slip out of the medal places.

Do we know anything about TPRs and points gained? Sam Franklin played a strong field and must have had a TPR quite similar to Yang-Fan's.

As noted before in these threads, since everyone is under-rated in these events, just holding one's rating can be seen as an achievement.
