One of the comments suggests that the board is the right way round, but the photo has been flipped. The original will be on the Getty website somewhere (click on the 'i' on the photo to get the credit line), but I can't find it and it will be difficult as no further details are given. So it was either flipped by the photographer (only credited on the Getty site as 'Hales' - there are several photographers with that surname, it is probably George Hales) or flipped by Getty when they processed it, or the board was the wrong way round. I did find several interesting historical photos in the Hulton archives again. May try and pull some of those together at some point.
