White does look better, with play on both sides of the board.
Ray Keene would be warming up to sing the national anthem by now
(Edit - Black has just resigned. Great stuff indeed!)

A very impressive display from Akshaya to win. She will be equal third but I suspect probably fourth or fifth on tie-break.

Currently third on tie break, can't be worse than 4th I think?

it will almost certainly come down to the result on board 4 - if Antova wins then she will be third on tie-break if our local back-of-cigarette packet analysis is correct. If Antova does not win then Akshaya gets the bronze (I think....). Keeping everything crossed...

Yes, it looks that way, her win and Kozina's draw have put Akshaya ahead of her on tie-break. Antova currently a pawn up but hopefully a draw.

Losing in an early round of the European Youth always makes it hard since it normally means an inferior tie-break at the end, it's effectively dropping 1.5 points. That said, I thought that the winner Shuvulova who scored 9/9 was impressive, and the silver medallist who beat Akshaya yesterday did so in good style.
So even though, allowing for age and different boy/girl yardsticks, Akshaya is the most promising junior we have in England, there are a couple of Russian girls of her age still better. That's a sobering thought.
If England does send a women's team to the European team championship, I think Akshaya should definitely be offered a place even if her current rating does not qualify her. Ditto for the 2014 Olympiad team.

Ok, so Akshaya was seeded 4th and finished 4th (rather than third) only on tiebreak, pretty good result, so congratulations are in order
Hopefully there is some serious thought being put into how she can reach her full potential

overall team score back to 50% with 6 results still to come. Laura won, Adam A and David drew.
Akshaya confirmed as 4th on tiebreak. Matthew may just finish in the top ten depending on how three remaining results turn out.

overall score for the girls 26 from 45, so 58%. All of them on 50% (4.5 points) or better. Excellent to see.
